The test covers a full inspection of your vehicle to DVSA guidelines, including lights, steering, brakes, suspension, seatbelts, bodywork, wheels and tyres, exhaust emissions, and more. It's a legal requirement for most vehicles over three years old, and your car needs a valid certificate to stay on the road.

A Class IV MOT (cars and light vans) is FROM £50, and a Class VII MOT (light commercials) is FROM £50. Both are comfortably within the maximum fee set by the DVSA.

We'll always talk you through what's failed and why before doing any work. Wherever possible, we can carry out rectifications and get your car retested the same day, so you're not left without a vehicle for long. Nothing gets fixed without your say-so first.

You can test up to one calendar month (minus a day) before your current certificate expires, and still keep your original renewal date - so there's no downside to booking in early. Test any earlier than that and the new certificate runs from the test date instead, so you'd lose whatever time was left on the old one.

Booking ahead is best, since it guarantees you a slot at a time that suits you - just give us a call or send an enquiry and we'll sort a time. That said, if you're passing and it's urgent, give us a ring first and we'll always try to help where we can.

A full service is the standard most cars need, roughly every 12 months or 12,000 miles, and covers a full inspection plus an oil, oil filter and air filter change. An interim service is a lighter check around every 6 months or 6,000 miles - handy if you cover high mileage or do a lot of short journeys. It's a top-up alongside your full service, not a replacement for it.

UK law requires a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, all the way round. A simple way to check at home is the 20p test - insert a 20p coin into the main tread grooves, and if the outer rim of the coin is visible, your tread may be too low. Pop in and we'll happily check for you, free of charge.
